Summary

More
Chester has been feeling a little anxious lately. He has to stand up and speak in front of the whole class. If that isn't scary, he doesn't know what is! But Mama Raccoon is always there to make him feel better.

She tells him a story about a little robin who's afraid to jump out of the nest and fly. Not only does he have to leap out into the sky, but he also has to explain how he does it in front of all the other little robins in class. And as Chester knows, that's even scarier than flying!

But as the story unfolds, Chester learns that being brave doesn't mean not being scared. Being brave means being afraid of something and doing it anyway. With a simple saying to help calm the jitters—and with a little help from his mom—Chester will be ready to face his class when the big day comes.

Chester Raccoon once again tackles familiar childhood worries with the tenderness and understanding that have made him a favorite among young readers.
