Summary

More
The day Jessica Feeney comes to Tom's classroom starts out just like any other school day. Tom is laughing at his best friend's jokes and dreaming of the day that his popular crush will finally notice him. Then Tom's teacher announces that their class is getting a new student—and that there's something they need to know about her.

It turns out that Jessica was badly disfigured in a tragic fire, and her injuries are worse than Tom ever could have imagined. All of the other students are afraid of Jessica's shocking appearance, and most won't even talk to her. But despite his own fears, Tom finds the courage to look past her injuries when no one else will—and their friendship changes his life forever.

This beautifully written, moving novel will stay with readers long after they've finished the last page.
