Summary

More
Gerald the giraffe’s long neck may make him good at eating leaves from trees, but his short legs and knobby knees don’t make him a very graceful dancer. At the annual Jungle Dance, the chimps cha-cha, the lions tango, and the warthogs waltz, but Gerald just feels like a klutz—especially when all the other animals point and laugh at his moves.

When all the other dancers refuse to let him join their cancan, Gerald wanders sadly home. But on his way, he meets a little cricket who tells him a secret: what Gerald really needs is a special kind of music. Could this clumsy giraffe become the jungle’s next dancing sensation after all?

Filled with poetic rhymes and genuine humor, this bighearted story will inspire kids everywhere to believe in themselves and dream big.

Editorial Reviews

"Parker-Rees's kicky depictions of slightly anthropomorphic animals boogying on the dance floor are the highlight here."—Publishers Weekly
