About this Series

Captain Underpants author Dav Pilkey is the creator of Dog Man, a crime-fighting canine with a nose for justice who's always ready to resist the call of the wild to answer the call of duty. Or, well, sort of.…Having the head of a dog and the body of a human isn't as easy as it looks.

When Greg the police dog and his cop companion are injured on the job, a life-saving surgery changes the course of history, and Dog Man is born. This heroic hound digs into deception, claws after crooks, and rolls over robbers. But there are feline felons everywhere, and they're determined to pull off pur-fect crimes! It's a good thing he's got his own kitty sidekick to watch his back.

The Dog Man series explores a whole new world of humor, drawing upon Dav Pilkey's unique gift for creating unexpected superheroes that save the day while producing lots of laughs and silly wordplay.

About the Author

Dav Pilkey has written and illustrated numerous popular, award-winning books for children, including the Captain Underpants and Dumb Bunnies series; Dog Breath, winner of the California Young Reader Medal; and The Paperboy, a Caldecott Honor book.

Dav began his "career" as an author-illustrator in elementary school when his A.D.D. behavior landed him at a desk in the hallway outside of his classroom. It was there he created the first Captain Underpants adventures. When his second grade teacher discovered his cartoon creations, she said famously, "You'd better grow up, because you can't spend the rest of your days making silly books!" Today he is one of the most successful and widely read children's book authors in America. For Pilkey, the moral of the story is clear: "If a silly, smart-alecky goofball like Dav Pilkey can turn out all right…then there's hope for every kid."
